What is Alprostadil

Alprostadil is a treatment for erectile dysfunction (ED) that may provide an erection that is strong enough for most men who try it to have sex. As an ED drug, alprostadil may be self-injected or used as a urethral suppository. Alprostadil is commonly used in men, using brand names Caverject, Edex, and Muse, for erectile dysfunction.

Alprostadil is used for treatment of impotence; when getting and maintaining an erection is an issue when having intercourse. Alprostadil is an active ingredient of MUSE, and it works by relaxing a thin layer of muscles on the walls of blood vessels, enlarging blood vessels in the penis. Alprostadil is also used to support the treatment of birth defects, in which the temporary blood vessels fail to close quickly after birth.

Alprostadil is a generic prescription injectable used to improve blood flow to and from the lungs of infants with congenital heart disease. There is also an injection for alprostadil administration known as Caverject. The active ingredient contained in Caverject is called alprostadil, which is a type of medicine called a prostaglandin. CAVERJECT contains the active ingredient alprostadil, which belongs to a class of medicines known as prostagladins.

The kit comes in boxes containing 5 vials. Caverject (Alprostadil injection) is a prescription medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED), also known as impotence.

Description of Caverject

Caverject is an injection medicine prescribed to men who have erectile dysfunction. Caverject is injected into the sponge-like tissue on each side of the penis, called the corpus cavernosum.

CAVERJECT produces an erection when it is injected into the blood-filled spaces in the penis.

Because the active ingredients do not require a complete nervous system between the brain and penis, Caverject has been prescribed to men who suffer from spinal injuries, nerve damage around the prostate, coronary artery disease, high cholesterol, or high blood pressure, who are having trouble getting and maintaining an erection.

Caverject (Alprostadil) should be used only when prescribed by a registered medical practitioner, and if a physician has shown you how to inject Caverject. Some online pharmacies might say that you can buy Caverject as a generic alprostadil injection from them. If you have not used Caverject before, do not purchase this medication online and consult with your healthcare provider.

Patients who have been shown to use Caverject by their GP or Nurse Practitioner, and who have used it before, are welcome to purchase Caverject at our pharmacy in the UK. There is no currently licensed generic form of this medicine. There is no generic version of alprostadil for sale.

Caverject is available as single-dose vials that contain 20 mg of alprostadil. The use of TriMix injectables is contraindicated for patients who have allergies to any of the ingredients in TriMix, sickle-cell anemia, blood clotting disorders, any condition that may predispose you to priapism (a painful erection lasting longer than 4 hours), leukemia, anatomical malformation of the penis, penile implants, and if you are under your doctors direct instructions to refrain from sexual activity.
